Dermal Filler Dissolving

Dermal filler dissolving is performed with an enzyme called Hyalase®. This enzyme breaks down dermal filler and can also break down our natrual hyaluronic acid in our body. Results can not be guaranteed and can be unpredicable as to how much dermal filler the enzyme breaks down. As your dermal filler dissolves, it makes sense that there will be volume loss to the area treated. In some cases, you might notice signs of ageing that were not visiable due to being disguised with the dermal filler that was once there. The first effects can be immediate, however it will take 2 weeks to see final results.

Hyalase® administration can result in anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction - this is a life threatening medical emergency. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction can include shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, difficulty swallowing, swelling of the tongue, eyelids, lips, hoarseness of the voice, stomach pain, nausea or diarrhoea.

If you have any of the above symptoms, please report to your nearest emergency department or call the ambulance on 000.

After the procedure you may experience the following:

  • Bruising

  • Swelling of the treated area

  • Itching

  • Redness

  • Tenderness

These side effects will resolve spontaenously. You can apply ice to the area to assisnt with swelling, bruising or tenderness.

Please avoid the following for 24 hours after your treatment:

  • Make up

  • Exercise

  • Saunas

  • Active skin care (eg Vit A, AHA/BHA)

Please also avoid any facials for 2 weeks after dissolving your dermal filler.
